UrbanMind Project Partnership Meeting Held in Pula

On 5 June, an official partnership meeting of the UrbanMind project was held at the Communal Palace in Pula, with representatives of the City of Kranj, Slovenia, in attendance. The Cities of Pula and Kranj share not only common project goals, but also a joint vision of sustainable urban development and the future of smart cities.

In her opening remarks, Maša Mihelić, Head of Department, emphasized the importance of cooperation between cities, the exchange of knowledge and best practices, and the joint creation of solutions that form the foundation of sustainable development.

“This meeting will further strengthen our partnership and bring concrete ideas that we will implement together for the benefit of our communities,” said Mihelić.

Ivana Džombić, Assistant Head for Strategic Projects and EU Funds, presented recent European and strategic projects that the City of Pula has implemented, as well as those currently underway or in preparation.

The UrbanMind project brings together experts from both cities in the fields of smart city development, EU and development policies, green initiatives, and mobility.

Launched under the EU’s European Data Space for Smart Communities programme, the project is led by the Municipality of Kranj in cooperation with Slovenian partners Riko d.o.o. and 3FS, both recognized specialists in engineering, project management, and digital solutions.

The project includes the installation of video equipment at traffic intersections in the city centre, procurement of devices for monitoring environmental parameters on public transport buses, the development of a shared data space, and the creation of two applications based on this platform. It also encompasses the management of the data space and the implementation of applications in both Kranj and Pula.

The total project value amounts to €3,000,000, with the EU co-financing 50%. The City of Pula contributes €347,750. The project will run until 30 April 2026.
